Compliance


PJM is committed to compliance with various government entities in order to ensure the reliability of the power grid. PJM is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The FERC is an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. The FERC also regulates hydropower and natural gas projects.

PJM also is committed to full compliance with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation and the North American Energy Standards Board business standards as well as ReliabilityFirst standards. PJM provides ongoing communication with its members on the status of compliance and compliance-related activities through the Reliability Standards and Compliance Subcommittee.

PJM is also compliant with the SERC Reliability Corporation, a nonprofit corporation responsible for promoting and improving the reliability, adequacy, and critical infrastructure of the bulk power supply systems in all or portions of 16 central and southeastern states.
