Question:
What types of equipment need ratings? Are ratings required for all equipment?

Answer:

Thermal ratings can be submitted on lines, transformers, series devices, phase shifters and flow breakers. Ratings are not required for every piece of equipment. The ratings requirement depends on the monitored priority (congestion management priority). Any equipment that is marked as MP1, MP2, MP4 and MP6 requires ratings. More information on monitored priorities can be found in Manual 3A, Appendix C.
